Welcome to our virtual tour of the Presbyterian PET Imaging Center. We hope you enjoy the tour. To begin, select a specific view from the pulldown menu below, or if you prefer, click "Start Tour" for a full tour.

The Presbyterian PET Imaging Center is located on the campus of Presbyterian Hospital. A special parking area for patients of the PET Center is located directly outside the center's entrance.

From the moment you enter the Presbyterian PET Imaging Center, you will be cared for by our remarkable staff.

Our spacious waiting area is comfortable for patients and their loved ones.

Prior to receiving a PET scan, patients will be injected with a small amount of radioactive glucose. Patients will relax in one of our four comfortable preparation rooms while they wait for the glucose to be distributed throughout the body. The rooms are equipped with a television and reclining chair.

Our GE Discovery ST PET scanner is the newest and most advanced scanner in the Charlotte area.

A tech will be in the room with the patient during the PET scan. Patients must lie still for 20 to 25 minutes while the scan is performed. The PET scan is painless, and there are no side effects.

During the scan, our technologists watch the image on a screen to ensure it comes out clearly.

Next, the results of the scan are interpreted by one of our radiologists and sent to your referring physician.
