National Quality Scores

Presbyterian Healthcare participates in national programs to measure our quality.

One of the best ways to rate healthcare quality is through data collected by an independent source. We voluntarily participate in programs to measure our performance and compare with other hospitals throughout the nation. As quality initiatives continue to evolve and standardize, we will continue taking steps to ensure that we participate in programs which bring the most important information to our community.

Medicare Hospital Quality Online Report

The federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) publish the results of several patient quality measures at hospitals across the U.S., including these key areas in which Presbyterian Healthcare participates.

  • Heart Attack (AMI Care)
  • Heart Failure (CHF)
  • Pneumonia Care
  • Surgical Care Improvement Project

Quality health care is a high priority for the President, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).  In 2001, HHS and CMS created Quality Initiatives to assure quality health care through accountability and public disclosure. Learn more

Mission Lifeline

Presbyterian has taken part in statewide initiatives to improve the care of heart attack victims in North Carolina. Our care of heart attack patients exceeds national standards and serves as a model for others. Mission Lifeline, a project of the American Heart Association (AHA), is tackling heart attack care across the country.

The Mission Lifeline six-minute video features interviews with a Presbyterian Hospital Matthews patient and Dr. Dowdy of Presbyterian and Mid Carolina Cardiology, as well as interviews with other patients and healthcare providers. Follow the link below, and click on the picture of healthcare workers to view the video.
