The Joint Commission Accreditation
Presbyterian Healthcare has been fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). JCAHO accreditation involves evaluating a healthcare organization's performance in areas that most affect patient health and safety. To maintain and earn accreditation, we participate in extensive onsite reviews by a team of JCAHO healthcare professionals at least once every three years.
National Stroke Care Certification
Presbyterian Hospital was the first hospital in the region to receive national Stroke Care Certification from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). The designation is awarded to facilities that demonstrate excellence in healthcare quality and meet the strict national standards set by JCAHO and the American Stroke Association.
Accredited Chest Pain Centers
Presbyterian Hospital, Presbyterian Hospital Matthews and Presbyterian Hospital Huntersville have received the national designation of Accredited Chest Pain Centers from the Society of Chest Pain Centers, a highly respected independent organization that evaluates hospitals. Presbyterian Hospital was the first in North Carolina to achieve advanced accreditation for Cycle II Chest Pain with Percutaneous Coronary Intervention.
Magnet Nursing Designation
The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) unanimously named all four of Presbyterian Healthcare’s hospitals as Magnet Health Care facilities. This designation applies to Presbyterian Hospital Huntersville, Presbyterian Hospital Matthews, Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte and Presbyterian Orthopaedic Hospital. Only five percent of all hospitals nationwide have earned this designation, which recognizes facilities that provide the highest level of nursing care. Learn more
