Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) is a medical treatment where the entire body is exposed to 100 percent oxygen under increased pressure. Initially used as a treatment for underwater divers with the “bends,” hyperbaric oxygen is effective in treating a variety of diseases. HBO is not a replacement for other proven methods of treatment such as surgery or antibiotics. It is generally prescribed in conjunction with other forms of treatment.

The Center for Hyperbaric Medicine is located on the first floor of Presbyterian Hospital near the Emergency Department (accessible from Caswell Road at Fourth Street), and is open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays. For more information about our services, call 704-384-7098.
