Learn at Home Courses

Presbyterian offers the following courses that you can take from the comforts of your own home. For more information on our "Learn at Home" programs, please call 704-384-7510.

  • Positively Pregnant - Rent our basket of educational goodies.  Basket contains video and written information on normal physical and emotional changes of pregnancy, fetal development, healthy food choices, relief measures for common discomforts, signs of pre-term labor and general health concerns.  Rental fee and deposit required.
  • Bedrest Basket - Can't make it to a maternity class?  Anxious because your doctor prescribed bedrest?  Our basket of materials and videos on labor and the newborn will help you prepare.  Rental fee and deposit required.
  • Cesarean Birth and Vaginal Birth After Cesarean - Written information will be sent to you in the mail.  After you have read the material, nurses from our women's health education department are available to discuss your questions by phone, or you may set up a personal appointment to view a video.

Each of our hospitals offer the following classes to help you have a healthy pregnancy.

Maternity Tour

You and your family are welcome to tour our birthing facilities so you know what to expect when it is time to deliver.  These free tours are offered both evenings and weekends.

Childbirth Preparation

This class helps the expectant mom and support person learn what to expect during labor and delivery, signs of early labor, relaxation and breathing techniques, Cesarean birth and pain management choices.  Important basics on infant care are also discussed.  Search our calendar for the keywords "childbirth preparation" for a complete list of dates, times and locations.

Childbirth Refresher

A class for those who have had a previous childbirth preparation or Lamaze class in the past.  Search our calendar for the keywords "childbirth refresher" for a complete list of dates, times and locations.

Increasing Comfort in Labor: Tips, Techniques and Tools

An activity-based class for the expectant mom and her partner to practice using labor comfort measures, tools and techniques.  For everyone anticipating labor and especially helpful for those who may want to minimize medication use during labor.  Will include tips for supporting labor progress following an epidural.

Preparing to Parent a Baby!

This two-hour class taught by a certified parenting educator will answer parents' questions and prepare them for changes after childbirth. Topics include: styles of parenting, bonding, sleep techniques, scheduling and self-care. Expectant parents should attend this class during the last three months of pregnancy. Fee.  Register Today.

Nutrition Counseling

This is for expectant mothers who want more information or guidance about their diet and nutrition. Appointments are made with our registered dietitian and special counseling is available for women with special needs. This includes women who are expecting multiples or have a vegetarian diet. Yoga for Birth

Our one-hour class is taught by a certified yoga instructor with special training in yoga for pregnancy. Breastfeeding Class

A one-session class for moms and their partners to learn breastfeeding basics and techniques. Learn to read your baby's cues, determine if you baby is getting enough milk and how to identify and manage breastfeeding challenges.
