This procedure is suitable for some patients with conditions resulting in end-stage kidney disease. This includes infection, stones, obstruction, dysplasia and renal vascular hypertension. The procedure can also be performed for the cancer of the kidney.
Surgery
Laparoscopic kidney surgery only requires several small incisions. Through these incisions, a surgeon uses a tiny camera and specialized surgical instruments to conduct the operation and remove the kidney. The surgery takes approximately two to two and a half hours, and the hospital stay is usually just overnight, even for large tumors.
