Surgery
If an injury requires surgical treatment, you can count on the orthopaedic experts at Presbyterian to care for you with the same advanced techniques used to treat professional athletes. This includes minimally invasive arthroscopy and laser surgery on an outpatient basis in order to help accelerate your recovery. If necessary, we provide case managers to help coordinate post-operative care, including physical therapy.
Our orthopaedic surgeons work closely with a variety of other clinical professionals in order to specifically address patients' individual needs. Recreational and professional athletes can both expect to receive the same expert care at Presbyterian to help them get back to their games as soon as possible.
Primary Care Sports Medicine
Our primary care sports medicine physicians have dual certification in family medicine and sports medicine. Their sports medicine training enables them to care for many sports-related orthopaedic injuries when surgery is not required; should you need surgery, they will recommend a plan of action and refer you to an orthopaedic surgeon.
Primary care sports medicine physicians look beyond the treatment of specific injuries to the bones and joints to care for the whole athlete. Some of the services provided by primary care sports medicine physicians include:
Nutrition and supplement counseling
Sport-specific strength conditioning
Sports physicals and functional testing, including injury prevention and evaluation
Gait analysis and orthotics
Custom orthotic casting and biomechanical analysis
Physical Therapy
In many cases, sports and fitness-related injuries can be treated with physical therapy at one of our Presbyterian Rehabilitation Center locations or primary care sports medicine practices. Our sports medicine program is maintained by physical therapists who specialize in musculoskeletal exercise and sports-related conditions and are trained to help patients regain their strength and achieve their highest level of function. Several of our locations also have certified athletic trainers on staff.
We treat multiple sports-related conditions, including:
