Harris Hospice Unit

For many families, the Harris Hospice Unit becomes a home away from home. Located within Presbyterian Hospital, patients and their families can be together in an area where the emphaisis is on comfort and support.

This transitional unit has a specialized team that emphasizes stabilizing symptoms while providing comfort and support – all with the goal of returning patients back to their home for continuation of care. Our Harris Hospice Unit’s coordinated team approach to care helps families learn to provide the necessary hospice care at home while still having the guidance and support of hospital staff.

Our goal is to meet the needs of both the patient and the family by offering a coordinated team approach to care. This approach helps families learn to provide the necessary hospice care at home while still having the guidance and support of our staff in the hospital. The hospice team also will assist the family in coordinating plans for returning the patient home after symptoms are under control.
