Take the First Step to Better Heart Health.
Your experience at the Women’s Heart Center begins with a comprehensive heart disease risk assessment. This will help pinpoint your individual heart disease risk factors so we can determine together how best to overcome them. Following your heart disease risk assessment, you will receive an advanced diagnostic imaging test designed to identify heart disease at the source. Your assessments will take approximately two hours and cost $199.
We will perform several screening tests, including:
- A blood pressure check
- Cholesterol blood test
- Glucose blood test
- Weight/BMI screening
- Advanced imaging testing – either a Carotid Intima-Media Thickness (IMT) test or a Cardiac Calcium Score test, depending on your age
Once these screenings are complete, your tests will be read and explained to you during a one-on-one consultation with one of our cardiovascular specialists. We will work together, along with your physician, to develop a personalized plan to reduce your risk for heart disease or manage an existing condition.
Two out of every three women have at least one of the following risk factors:
- A family history of coronary artery disease, stroke or premature heart disease
- Age 55 or older
- Being post-menopausal, or having your ovaries removed
- Obesity
- A sedentary lifestyle
- Diabetes
- High blood pressure
- High total cholesterol and/or low HDL cholesterol
- Metabolic syndrome
- Cigarette smoking
