Peripheral Vascular Disease Warning Signs

Knowing the warning signs of peripheral vascular disease is a very important part of treating the disease early and effectively.

The most common sign of peripheral vascular disease (PVD) is leg pain that occurs when walking or running that stops while resting. This is known as claudication and occurs when there is not enough blood flowing through the legs during exercise.

Warning Signs of PVD

  • Leg pain during exercise that stops when you rest
  • Numbness, tingling or weakness in the arms or legs
  • Burning or aching pain in the feet or toes when resting
  • Ulcers or sores that won't heal
  • Cold feet or legs
  • Color change in feet or legs
