If you have had a heart attack, heart surgery or other cardiac medical procedure, the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at Presbyterian is here to help you get back on track. Our three-month program is designed to do more than help you live a longer life; our goal is to help you live more fully, without constantly fearing the serious effects of heart disease.

The Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is located at Presbyterian Novant Heart & Wellness on 125 Baldwin Avenue in Charlotte.

Our program can help patients strengthen their cardiovascular systems, improve cholesterol levels, blood sugar control and weight management, lower blood pressure and increase bone density.

Under the medical supervision of a cardiologist, our exercise physiologists, cardiac nurses, psychologist, dietitian and other healthcare professionals provide comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation to fit your needs. Your plan may include:

Physical Conditioning and Exercise Therapy

Qualified exercise therapists and medical staff supervise a customized exercise program using advanced EKG monitoring.

Nutrition Counseling

Individuals receive counseling on effective methods of achieving ideal body weight as well as controlling cholesterol, diabetes and hypertension through healthy eating.

Education

Participants learn about appropriate exertion during exercise and the importance of regular blood pressure and target pulse checks. There are also weekly education classes on heart disease and lifestyle changes that can speed the recovery process.

Counseling Services

A professional psychologist is available to support cardiac patients and families dealing with pain, fear and depression during rehabilitation. Counseling is also available for smoking cessation and stress management.
