Huntersville, NC - Presbyterian Hospital Huntersville is expanding their services to better meet the needs of the community.  A clinical decision unit opened February 3 and serves as a 24-hour observation area to determine if a patient will be admitted to the hospital or discharged.

Admittance into the Clinical Decision Unit is by physician referral only.  Inpatient physicians and a dedicated nursing team oversee these patients, and the efficiency and quality of care is improved by the addition of this 10-bed unit.  Telemetry care is available for this unit to ensure that all needs of the patients are met at all times.

“We are excited to be able to offer this service to the community and to our referring physicians,” said Tracy Holshouser, RN, BSN, MHA, manager, clinical decision unit.  “We believe that this will help us better manage the flow of patients and ensure that they are cared for in the most efficient way possible.

The Clinical Decision Unit cares for adult patients, and they hope to eventually expand their services to care for pediatrics and laboring mothers.
