Event Highlights Include Expressive Drumming, Tai Chi and Keynote Speaker
Charlotte, N.C. - With a cancer diagnosis, often times there is an overlooked aspect of treatment – caring for the caregiver. To recognize the vital role that caregivers play and to provide time for rejuvenation, Presbyterian Buddy Kemp Cancer Support Center is hosting “Caregiver Retreat: A Gift to those who Give.”
The free half-day event will begin with a catered lunch served by survivors. A special keynote presentation will follow from Joni James Aldrich, caregiver and Michigan-based author of “Connection through Compassion: Guidance for Family and Friends of a Brain Cancer Patient.” The day will conclude with meditation, expressive drumming and tai chi demonstrations, as well as chair massage.
“Our goal is to have caregivers realize just how important they are to the cancer journey,” said Tiffany Young, LCSW, Buddy Kemp Cancer Support Center. “This day is all about them – acknowledging their challenges, providing resources for support and offering solutions for self care.”
“Caregiver Retreat: A Gift to Those Who Give” will take place Thurs., March 10, 12:30 - 4 p.m. at Presbyterian Buddy Kemp Cancer Support Center, 242 Colonial Ave., Charlotte, N.C. 28207. Registration is requested by March 7. Please call 704-384-5223 to register, or for more information, visit www.presbyterian.org/buddykemp.
