Balder, MD, FACS.  Dr. Balder specializes in minimally invasive surgical weight loss options, focusing on a patient-centered, team-oriented approach to help each patient on their weight loss journey.  Southeast Bariatrics is located at 19485 Old Jetton Road, Cornelius, NC 28031. Southeast Bariatrics specializes in the surgical and medical management of morbid obesity and offers patients support throughout each stage of weight loss. The practice offers a wide range of advanced weight loss surgeries including laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding, gastric bypass, vertical sleeve gastrectomy, biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch, as well as revisional bariatric surgeries including “incision-less” options.  Surgical solutions include extensive pre-operative education, quality hospital care and intensive post-operative follow-up. Dr. Balder is board-certified in general surgery and earned his medical degree at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago, IL. He completed a residency in general surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Brown University-Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, RI. Dr. Balder has extensive training in advanced laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgical techniques that decrease complications, recovery time and pain experienced after surgery.  Previously, Dr. Balder practiced bariatric surgery in Florence, SC. In 2000, he was the first surgeon in South Carolina to perform a laparoscopic gastric bypass procedure. Dr. Balder holds memberships in the American College of Surgeons, American Society of Metabolic & Bariatric Surgeons and the Society of American Gastrointestinal & Endoscopic Surgeons.
