Fundraising Event to Include Dinner, Dancing

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Presbyterian Buddy Kemp Cancer Support Center is putting on their dancing shoes to celebrate their 10th anniversary.  Called “Dancing Under The Stars: An Evening of Latin and Ballroom Dance,” the event will take place on Saturday, September 11 at 6 p.m. at the Buddy Kemp Cancer Support Center,  located on 242 S. Colonial Avenue in Charlotte.

Tickets for the event are $75, and the price of the ticket includes cocktail hour, a buffet dinner, dance performance and group dance lesson, followed by a night of dancing.  A portion of the tickets will be tax deductible.

The event will celebrate the unique contribution that Buddy Kemp Cancer Support Center has made in the Charlotte region for the past 10 years by providing services such as case management, counseling and educational programming to those impacted by a cancer diagnosis.  The event will also raise money for the Hand-in-Hand fund, which provides emergency financial assistance to patients who are going through cancer treatment.  Previous Hand-in-Hand funds have been used to assist with buying gas cards for patients so that they can get to medical treatment, and helping with medication co-payments, rent and mortgage payments and utility and phone bill payments.

Dr. James Boyd, a decorated Charlotte medical oncologist and one of the founding supporters of Buddy Kemp Cancer Support Center, will also be recognized at this event.

“I am extremely excited to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Presbyterian Buddy Kemp Cancer Support Center, said Marcia Lampert, manager. “This program was designed to meet the needs of the community, and we’re all proud, humbled and touched by the decade of experiences we’ve had providing support to those impacted by cancer.”

Tickets for Dancing under the Stars are on sale now.  Anyone in the community who wishes to support Buddy Kemp and its mission is welcome and encouraged to attend.
