As a way of showing appreciation for their staff’s hard work and commitment to their patients, Presbyterian Hospital will host a “Blessing of the Hands” ceremonies during Healthcare Week, which is May 9 to 15.

The ceremonies, which will be conducted in Spanish and English, will involve the hospital chaplains blessing employees’ hands with holy water and prayer to honor all the work they have done in service to others. Additionally, chaplains will visit hospital units and departments to conduct the ritual for employees who wish to participate. In an effort to reach everyone, those who miss their department’s visit can stop by the table set up in front of the chapel where an individual ritual can be performed.

Nurses, physicians and any other employees who would like to participate may by stopping by the Scott Lindsay Chapel in Presbyterian Hospital for an individual rite or by attending a scheduled ceremony at the chapel. The full calendar of scheduled services is available in the Presbyterian Hospital healthcare week calendar. The first Spanish Blessing of the Hands Ceremony will be held on Monday, May 10 at 11:15 in chapel on the first floor of the hospital.
