Grieving Families to Receive Free No-fuss Meals During the Holidays
Charlotte, N.C. -- Presbyterian Hospice & Palliative Care has partnered with Mr. Food no-fuss Meals to provide fresh-made dinners for grieving hospice families during what can be an emotional holiday season and beyond. The partnership was introduced last year when Chip and Cindy Wilson, owners of Mr. Food no-fuss Meals, donated 80 meals for delivery to Presbyterian Hospice & Palliative Care’s in-home hospice patients and their families at Christmas. This year, they are offering the partnership on an ongoing basis to continue after the holidays are over.
“Experiencing the death of a loved one is difficult at any time of year, but it’s particularly hard before the holidays, which is why we chose to launch the program this time of year,” said Kathy Brown, manager of marketing, development and volunteers at Presbyterian Hospice & Palliative Care.
The donated meals allow overwhelmed families not to have to worry about the shopping, chopping or clean up that comes with home-cooked meals. Presbyterian Hospice & Palliative Care volunteers will deliver a minimum of 20 fresh-made Mr. Food no-fuss Meals each month to high-risk bereavement clients.
Additionally, Mr. Food is generating community support for Presbyterian Hospice & Palliative Care by offering 15 percent off discounts to members of the community who mention the coupon code: PresbyHospice. Particularly at the holidays, participants can get the double benefit of supporting hospice’s mission and avoiding the long lines at the grocery store.
Brown adds, “This initiative with Mr. Food no-fuss Meals addresses emotional and spiritual support for families who have lost loved ones. While hospice care is all about caring for people at the end of life, it’s also about supporting their families and helping them through their grief.”
