GASTONIA, N.C. -- Saving lives and improving the health of heart and vascular patients may seem like an undertaking that would leave time for little else, but Costa Andreou, M.D., FACC, has proved otherwise.

Dr. Andreou recently received an award from Gaston Family Health Services honoring him for his “generous donation of time and service to those less fortunate” in the Gaston County community.

Dr. Andreou has been active in the Gaston County community since joining Mid Carolina Cardiology (MCC) in 1999. He is currently president of the Gaston County Medical Society. In addition, he is a past president of the Heart Society of Gaston County and current member of its board of directors. The Heart Society of Gaston County is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to increasing awareness of cardiac disease, promoting heart healthy lifestyles and providing services to heart patients in Gaston County. Dr. Andreou is also chairman of the board for Health Net Gaston, a not-for-profit advocate for improved healthcare for Gaston County’s low-income, uninsured population that meets federal poverty guidelines.

According to Dr. Andreou, meeting the needs of the community is of utmost importance. “The people of Gaston County look to their medical community to provide the best medical care possible. MCC is committed to working with our medical community partners to serve this population to the best of our ability.”
