CHARLOTTE, NC – Presbyterian Breast Center has been designated as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiation (ACR), a top honor that recognizes facilities that go above and beyond requirements and seek additional education and regulatory review in order to provide excellent imaging services and care to patients.
As a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, Presbyterian Breast Center has earned accreditation in each of the American College of Radiology’s voluntary, breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program.
The breast imaging services at Presbyterian Breast Center are fully accredited in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy. Peer-review evaluations, conducted in each breast imaging modality by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field, have determined that this facility has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control, procedures and quality assurance programs.
In addition to utilizing highly-skilled staff and technicians, Presbyterian seeks to provide the most advanced imaging technology available to patients. Presbyterian Hospital recently unveiled new 3 Tesla Magnet imaging technology, which is considered by many to be the best piece of diagnostic equipment on the market for women at high-risk for breast cancer. The new 3T Magnet, which is more than twice as powerful as its predecessor, offers earlier detection of cancer and more detailed images of small and difficult-to-read areas.
