CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Even with all of the advanced treatments available today, mention of the “’c’ word” still causes people to shift uneasily in their seats.   For those who have a known family history of cancer, the anxiety is even higher.  That’s why Presbyterian Cancer Center is offering a special seminar for women at high risk.

The InHERitance seminar will feature a panel session with a multidisciplinary team of experts.  Speakers and topics include:

• Dr. Nicole Abinanti, radiologist: Screening options for the high-risk patient
• Dr. J. Matt McDonald, gynecologic oncologist: Understanding genetically linked cancers
• Christen Csuy, certified genetic counselor: Ethics, insurance and genetic testing
• Kimberly Bond, high-risk support group leader: Finding the balance as a high-risk woman
Any woman who is either concerned about her family history, knows she is at high-risk or is already dealing with a cancer diagnosis is encouraged to attend this free informational seminar.  After all, the gift of empowerment is one of the most important gifts a woman can give to herself and her family.
