Charlotte, N.C. -- They may not come from the North Pole, but the Presbyterian Hospital Community Care Cruiser staff are delivering area children in need the best gift they can get – the gift of health. The Cruiser, a mobile health clinic that has seen over 1,200 pediatric patients in just its first year of operation, will offer a holiday surprise to patients at Our Lady of Guadalupe this Thursday.
Instead of the usual Cruiser staff dressed in orange and blue, Santa and his helpers will be on hand to provide medical care. They’ll also distribute toys collected during a series of toy drives to all good girls and boys.
“We have been blessed this holiday with an outpouring of community support,” said Sharon Summer, senior director of Presbyterian Hospital Critical Care Transport. “To be able to add Christmas cheer and deliver toys to patients who otherwise may not have much of a holiday reminds us of what the season really is all about.”
