Presbyterian Hospital Is Building the Future of Medicine in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Presbyterian Hospital is taking medicine to new heights in the Queen City – literally. Construction projects recently kicked off, and the first phase, building a four-floor addition to the top of the existing Presbyterian Cancer Center, is underway.

By late 2010, the hospital will have 90 new patient rooms, 19 cardiac triage rooms, a new endoscopy suite, an expanded Emergency Department and several renovated and relocated departments to promote greater internal efficiency. During this transition period, there will be some important changes that will impact our patients and visitors.

How Presbyterian Hospital Construction May Affect You

  • The Presbyterian Cancer Center entrance is now closed.
  • The Presbyterian Cancer Center parking lot is closed.
  • The Presbyterian Hospital Emergency Department parking lot is now closed.
  • The North Wing Lobby entrance of Presbyterian Hospital is the main entrance for all patients except Cancer Center and Emergency Department patients. The North Wing Lobby is located next to Presbyterian Visitor's Deck.
  • Patients of Presbyterian Cancer Center and the Emergency Department should use the main circle entrance of Presbyterian Hospital where Elizabeth Avenue intersects Hawthorne Lane.
  • Valet parking is available for Presbyterian Cancer Center patients between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday - Friday at the circular drive accessed off Hawthorne Lane.
  • Valet services for Emergency Department patients is available at the Emergency Department entrance 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • You may see new signage appear in the coming months to best direct you around campus during this time of expansion.

Phase two of construction projects will begin in December 2008, and the Emergency Department entrance will close in early 2009. More information will be released on this project and future construction efforts as these dates near.
