Rankin Women’s Center’s Ballantyne location will host Preparing for Pregnancy, a seminar focusing on preconception and genetic testing, on Thursday, September 23 from 6 – 7 p.m. This FREE seminar is perfect for anyone thinking about becoming pregnant in the future or has been trying to conceive without success. Led by board-certified OB/GYN, Thor Svendsen, MD, from Rankin Women’s Center, Preparing for Pregnancy will include topics like:
- Preconception
- Genetic testing
- Vitamins pre- and post-conception
- Ultrasound exams
- How long to expect to try before conceiving
- Pregnancies for women age 35+
- Vaginal delivery versus C-sections
Kristie Singer, MSN, FNP-C, from Rankin Women’s Center and genetic counselors from Genzyme Genetics will also be there to speak as well as answer questions. Individuals will have the opportunity to ask questions from these medical providers during break-out sessions in a group or one-on-one settings.
“Deciding to start a family is such an exciting time for a couple, but it can also be overwhelming,” Svendsen said. “We want to make sure that everyone is educated and has the facts so it can be a joyous time. And if you are having trouble conceiving, we can help you with that, as well.”
Participants from past Preparing for Pregnancy events have really appreciated and enjoyed the opportunity. “It was nice to be in the company of several other couples all trying for a baby,” said Caroline Johnston, a previous Preparing for Pregnancy attendee. “Everyone was so warm and inviting, and it was incredibly informative. Now we are pregnant with a healthy baby girl and couldn’t be more excited!”
Preparing for Pregnancy will be held at the Ballantyne location of Rankin Women’s Center, 14215 Ballantyne Corporate Place. Please call 704-384-CARE ((2273) to register. For more information about Rankin Women’s Center, please visit www.rankinwomenscenter.com or call 704-384-1620.
