Community Event to Raise Money for Cancer Rehabilitation Programs

Charlotte, N.C. -- Charlotte’s great weather puts it at the top of the list for a slew of fundraiser walks throughout the year.  While thousands of people walk and run for a cause, it doesn’t seem like many people try stretching – until now. Presbyterian Cancer Rehabilitation and Wellness’ Yoga Warriors Against Cancer event Friday, Aug. 19 is bringing together Charlotte-area yoga enthusiasts and cancer survivors for a unique yoga-based fundraiser.

Presbyterian Cancer Rehabilitation and Wellness is partnering with three local yoga studios, Yoga For Life, The Yoga Center and Charlotte Yoga Club, to make Yoga Warriors Against Cancer a true community event. Certified yoga instructors at each location will lead participants through such poses as the Lotus, the Downward-Facing Dog and – of course – the Warrior. As they stretch, bend and breathe, this year’s Yoga Warriors will be supporting cancer survivors right here in Charlotte – all proceeds from the $30 registration fee benefit patients of Presbyterian’s cancer rehabilitation center.

“This money goes directly to Charlotte-area residents who have been diagnosed with cancer,” said Yvonne Brown, a cancer rehabilitation yoga instructor. “When our residents are healthy, relaxed, well balanced and more in touch with themselves, our community functions better.”

All proceeds from Yoga Warriors Against Cancer will be used to help ensure cancer survivors have affordable access to programs at Presbyterian Cancer Rehabilitation and Wellness that can improve their physical, mental and emotional well-being while on their journey through treatment and beyond.
