Charlotte, N.C. -- Cancer patients in Matthews will soon have access to another cancer support program in their community. Beginning in July, Look Good…Feel Better, a program that allows cancer patients to learn complimentary beauty techniques that help them manage the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment, will expand to Presbyterian Hospital Matthews.
A program of the American Cancer Society, Look Good… Feel Better offers professional beauty sessions for women and teen patients that include helpful makeup tips and free makeup kits for each participant at the end of the session.
Look Good… Feel Better has already seen success at Presbyterian facilities in Charlotte and Huntersville. According to Marcia Lampert, manager, Presbyterian Buddy Kemp Cancer Support Center, “Women love this program, it’s such a positive experience. Some cancer patients are at a low point in how they see themselves, as their bodies have been changed from medication and surgery. When the class is completed, the women appear from the room with smiles on their faces and look beautiful. It’s a transformation they had not imagined possible.”
Presbyterian Hospital Matthews already has its first two dates set for the program: July 18 and Sept. 19 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Other upcoming Look Good… Feel Better sessions across town include Presbyterian Hospital Huntersville on July 11 from 10 a.m. - noon and Presbyterian Buddy Kemp Cancer Support Center in Charlotte on the first and fourth Monday of every month from 10 a.m. – noon.
