Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation announced today that it has received a $25,000 grant from the CVS Caremark Charitable Trust, the private foundation created by CVS Caremark Corporation, to benefit the Presbyterian Hospital Community Care Cruiser.
The Community Care Cruiser, a 40-foot doctor's office on wheels, makes a valuable impact on the area's most fragile citizens - un- and underinsured youth. Through partnerships with area places of worship and community centers, the Cruiser extends an arm of support for children in need of free primary and preventive care, as well as immunizations, screenings and resource referrals.
"We could not be more grateful for the grant money from CVS Caremark Charitable Trust," said LeeAnne Broadway, program coordinator for the Community Care Cruiser. "Given the state of the economy, we have seen the need for our services multiply over the past several months. That means more medicines and more supplies; it's hard to keep up with the added cost of care."
"In today's challenging economy, it's more important than ever to support organizations that can have a positive impact by providing healthcare to those who otherwise could not obtain it," said Eileen Howard Dunn, Vice President, CVS Caremark Charitable Trust. "We're proud to support Presbyterian Hospital and the wonderful services provided by the Community Care Cruiser, and we wish them continued success in 2010."
The CVS Caremark Charitable Trust's grant to Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation is part of $6.3 million in grants given to nonprofit organizations across the country in 2009. The grants align with CVS Caremark Charitable Trust that supports programs that seek to connect those in need of services to providers who participate in accountable community health care programs, as well as organizations that support children living with disabilities.
