In those first few weeks of your new baby's life, your world has been rocked and upended in the best way possible. But before you know it, you've spent weeks or months making sure the needs of everyone else are met before your own.
That stops now, thanks to Mintview Moms in Motion, an innovative 10-week fitness program for expectant and postpartum mothers. Led by fitness specialist Erin Roberts of Charlotte's Bodywork by the Park Studio, this unique class is designed to help relieve stress, encourage quality sleep and educate while creating much-needed me time to help new and expectant moms focus on themselves and work on regaining their pre-baby fitness.
Roberts, 42, a certified strength and conditioning specialist and certified personal trainer, will lead moms of all fitness levels through gentle stretching and resistance work aimed at easing them into a post-baby fitness routine.
Creating dedicated time for yourself through Mintview Moms in Motion will have benefits beyond physical fitness, says Roberts, a mom of one who is pregnant with her second child.
Besides learning how to incorporate your new little one into your post-baby workout routine, she says, participants will have the chance to connect with other moms while taking an empowering break from the demands of motherhood (and giving the Dads a chance to bond with baby, too). There will be door prizes and post-class snacks and refreshments as well.
Classes - $50 for the 10-week session - start Thursday, May 5 and run each week from 5:30-6:30 p.m. through July 7 at Midtown Medical Plaza, 1918 Randolph Road. Roberts suggests moms wear comfortable clothes, athletic shoes and bring a towel.
