Cardiovascular Risk Management ProgramWe offer a comprehensive preventive cardiology program that evaluates your cardiac risk factors and develops an action plan emphasizing optimal management of all risk factors, including your lipid and hypertension management and diabetes control. Risk management plan may also include nutrition counseling, education and exercise therapy. Cholesterol TestingCholesterol screening is performed by a blood test. Persons with high cholesterol measurements from a blood sample tend to have a higher risk for coronary heart disease than those with cholesterol in the normal range. Studies have demonstrated that persons with high cholesterol can reduce their risk for heart disease by lowering their cholesterol. It is important to understand, however, that people can still have heart disease even with cholesterol levels in the normal range. Diabetes TreatmentDiabetes is a condition where the pancreas is unable to produce insulin or does not effectively use the insulin that is produced. Insulin is a hormone that removes glucose (blood sugar) from the blood and delivers it to the body's cells for fuel. Diabetes is a chronic disease for which there is no cure. Once someone has diabetes, the only treatment is ongoing management of the symptoms through meal planning, weight control, exercise, stress reduction and medication.
Electromyography (EMG Testing)Electromyography (EMG) measures the response of muscles and nerves to electrical activity. It is used to help determine muscle conditions that might be causing muscle weakness, including muscular dystrophy and nerve disorders. Menopausal CareCare for women who have reached the time in their life in which the menstrual cycle ends. Pap TestA Pap test (also called Pap smear) involves microscopic examination of cells collected from the cervix, used to detect changes that may be cancer or may lead to cancer, and to show noncancerous conditions, such as infection or inflammation. Pelvic ExamDuring a pelvic examination, a physician examines the uterus, vagina, ovaries, fallopian tubes, bladder and rectum. Physical TherapyPhysical therapy involves the evaluation and treatment of problems associated with mobility, balance, coordination and musculoskeletal pain. UltrasoundAn ultrasound, also called sonography, is a diagnostic imaging technique which uses high-frequency sound waves and a computer to create images of blood vessels, tissues and organs. Ultrasounds are used to view internal organs as they function, and to assess blood flow through various vessels.
