Ambiguous Genitalia Treatment

Treatment of ambiguous genitalia, which is a condition where a baby's genitalia may not be well formed, or the baby may have general characteristics of both sexes.

Chordee Treatment

Chordee is a condition in which the head of the penis curves downward (that is, in a ventral direction) or upward, at the junction of the head and shaft of the penis. The principal treatment of chordee is surgery in infancy.

Hydrocele Treatment

An accumulation of fluid in any sac-like cavity or duct - specifically in the tunica vaginalis testis or along the spermatic cord. The condition is caused by inflammation of the epididymis or testis or by lymphatic or venous obstruction of the cord. The fluid accumulation will often go away on its own, but when intervention is needed, surgical removal is the most effective form of treatment.

Hydronephrosis Treatment

Distention and dilation of the renal pelvis and calyces, usually caused by obstruction of the free flow of urine from the kidney, leading to progressive atrophy of the kidney. Treatment of hydronephrosis focuses upon the removal of the obstruction and drainage of the urine that has accumulated behind the obstruction. Therefore, the specific treatment depends upon where the obstruction lies. Surgery is not always needed.

Hypospadias Treatment

Treatment of hypospadias, a congenital  malformation in which the urethra opens at the base or beneath the penis.

Testicular Torsion Treatment

In testicular torsion the spermatic cord that provides the blood supply to a testicle is twisted, cutting off the blood supply. Prolonged testicular torsion will result in the death of the testicle and surrounding tissues. Treatment is a simple and minimally invasive surgical procedure.

Undescended Testis Treatment

Also known as cryptoorchidism. A term used to describe testis, which, at birth has not descended into the scrotum as normal. Treatment may include surgery or hormone therapy.

Ureteropelvic Junction Obstruction (UPJ) Treatment

A partial or total blockage of the flow of urine that occurs where the ureter enters the kidney.  Some conditions which can cause such blockage include inflammation, polyp, tumor, stones. Treatment options vary depending on which condition is present.

Urinary Infections Treatment

Treatment of infections of the urinary system typically includes antibiotics.

Varicocele Treatment

Varicose veins in the scrotum. The resulting swollen vessels surrounding the testicles create a pool of stagnant blood, which elevates the scrotal temperature. A major cause of male infertility. Treatment options include embolization (insertion of a tiny metal coil to block the flow of blood to the vein) or surgery.
