Movement Disorders Treatment
Movement disorders are a large group of neurological conditions that affect a patient's normal movements:
Dystonia – A condition in which the muscles of the neck, back, arms or legs contract involuntarily, often as a symptom of another disease, such as Parkinson’s Disease.
Huntington’s Disease - A chronic genetic neurological disease in which a patient’s brain cells break down, causing movement problems, tremors, seizures and mental decline.
Parkinson’s Disease - A progressive neurological disease that causes tremors, dementia and problems with posture, balance, coordination and speech.
Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS) - A condition causing leg aches or cramps that may result in involuntary jerking of the leg. RLS can keep a person from falling asleep or feeling as if they are getting enough rest.
Tics - Sudden, repeated movements of areas of the body such as the face or hands, which the patient cannot control.
Toritcollis - A "twisted" neck that results from spasms in the neck vertebrae, causing headache, neck pain and stiffness.
Narcolepsy Treatment
Narcolepsy is a sleep disorder that causes excessive daytime sleepiness, even if a person gets enough sleep at night. Narcolepsy is often accompanied by sleep paralysis and frightening dreams or hallucinations just before falling asleep or right after waking up.
Periodic Leg Movement Evaluations
