When you or a loved one is sick, you want to learn as much about the illness and treatment as possible. At Presbyterian Hospital Matthews Health Library you will have access to medical databases, journals and books to help you find answers to your health-related questions. Our full-service library is available to patients, families and the community, as well as medical professionals.

Free Services
Our professional staff uses the most up-to-date medical databases and resources to provide individualized search assistance. Information on support groups and local, state and national health/medical agencies and resources is available through the search service. This is a free service when visiting our library. Materials are provided for reference use only and may not be checked out.
Fee-Based Services
Specialized services such as complete bibliographic literature searches are available through the library for a nominal fee under some circumstances.
Medical References and Online Databases
The library provides access to an authoritative medical book collection and full-text consumer health and medical databases. The databases cover hundreds of medical journals, technical reports, consumer magazines and publications.
- MEDLINE, the National Library of Medicine's bibliographic database of over 4,800 journals
- Health & Wellness Reference Center, a multi-source database for medical, health and wellness research
- Internet searches from reviewed Web sites with health and medical information
- CINAHL, an index of English-language nursing and allied health journals
- Evidence-Based Medicine Databases, research on the best clinical expertise with clinical evidence from research
- MDConsult, providing access to books, journals, clinical guidelines, patient handouts and drug information.

Tuesday through Friday, 9:00 - 11:30 a.m., 12:30 - 4:00 p.m. Extended evenings on Thursdays until 6 p.m. by appointment.
