At Presbyterian Hospital Matthews Health Library you will have access to medical databases, journals and books to help you find answers to your health-related questions. Our full-service library is available to patients, families and the community, as well as medical professionals.

Free Services

Our professional staff uses the most up-to-date medical databases and resources to provide individualized search assistance. Information on support groups and local, state and national health/medical agencies and resources is available through the search service. This is a free service when visiting our library. Materials are provided for reference use only and may not be checked out.

Fee-Based Services

Specialized services such as complete bibliographic literature searches are available through the library for a nominal fee under some circumstances.

Medical References and Online Databases

The library provides access to an authoritative medical book collection and full-text consumer health and medical databases. The databases cover hundreds of medical journals, technical reports, consumer magazines and publications.

  • MEDLINE, the National Library of Medicine's bibliographic database of over 4,800 journals
  • Health & Wellness Reference Center, a multi-source database for medical, health and wellness research
  • Internet searches from reviewed Web sites with health and medical information
  • CINAHL, an index of English-language nursing and allied health journals
  • Evidence-Based Medicine Databases, research on the best clinical expertise with clinical evidence from research
  • MDConsult, providing access to books, journals, clinical guidelines, patient handouts and drug information.

Tuesday through Friday, 9:00 - 11:30 a.m., 12:30 - 4:00 p.m. Extended evenings on Thursdays until 6 p.m. by appointment.
