Diabetes Self-Care Education

Programs designed for anyone living with diabetes, no matter when they were diagnosed. We help patients use the latest treatment tools and information to properly manage their care. The goal is to prevent or lessen the complications that people often experience with diabetes.

Diabetes Survival Skills Program

An education program where you will learn how to address common issues such as the highs and lows of blood sugars, management on the days that you are not feeling well, stress management, carbohydrate counting, eating out and chronic complications.

Diabetes Treatment

Diabetes is a condition where the pancreas is unable to produce insulin or does not effectively use the insulin that is produced. Insulin is a hormone that removes glucose (blood sugar) from the blood and delivers it to the body's cells for fuel. Diabetes is a chronic disease for which there is no cure. Once someone has diabetes, the only treatment is ongoing management of the symptoms through meal planning, weight control, exercise, stress reduction and medication.

Diabetic Nutrition Consultations

People with diabetes need to pay special attention to their diet. In order for the body to regulate blood sugar levels, it must have the right foods at the right times and in the right amounts. A consultation with a nutritionist can help.

Gestational Diabetes Program

We offer individual consultations on diabetes and pregnancy for women who develop gestational (pregnancy-related) diabetes. This includes monitoring glucose and planning meals. A certified diabetes educator will work with your physician throughout your pregnancy.

Insulin Administration and Pump Training

Regular insulin injections are necessary for people with Type 1 diabetes. People with Type 2 diabetes may require medications and/or insulin to assist the body in making or using insulin more effectively. We can help evaluate if insulin injections and/or an insulin pump is right for you and show you the proper way to use it.

Nutrition Counseling

Developing a heart-healthy eating plan can help you reduce your cholesterol and maintain a healthy body weight, both of which are important in the prevention of heart disease. Nutrition counseling provides individual consultations with a nutritionist designed to create a healthy eating plan that is right for you. The nutritionist will review your blood lipid profile, discuss your current eating patterns and provide you with educational materials on foods that will lower your cardiovascular disease risk.

Nutrition Planning

Nutrition services offer an opportunity to receive expert advice from a dietitian. A diet analysis and consultation will benefit you whether you are looking to control weight loss or gain, implement a health eating pattern, or looking for a plan to assist in the prevention of disease.
