BiopsyA biopsy is a procedure in which tissue samples are removed (with a needle or during surgery) from the body for examination under a microscope; to determine if cancer or other abnormal cells are present. Diabetes TreatmentDiabetes is a condition where the pancreas is unable to produce insulin or does not effectively use the insulin that is produced. Insulin is a hormone that removes glucose (blood sugar) from the blood and delivers it to the body's cells for fuel. Diabetes is a chronic disease for which there is no cure. Once someone has diabetes, the only treatment is ongoing management of the symptoms through meal planning, weight control, exercise, stress reduction and medication.
Employment PhysicalsEmployment physicals help employers determine proper placement of employees and reasonable accommodation of qualified applicants.
Minor Surgical ProceduresMinor surgical procedures are those that can be done in the physician's office with local anesthesia. Newborn CareTreatment received by a newborn child from the date of birth until 30 days following discharge from the hospital. Pap TestA Pap test (also called Pap smear) involves microscopic examination of cells collected from the cervix, used to detect changes that may be cancer or may lead to cancer, and to show noncancerous conditions, such as infection or inflammation. Pelvic ExamDuring a pelvic examination, a physician examines the uterus, vagina, ovaries, fallopian tubes, bladder and rectum. Pelvic UltrasoundA pelvic ultrasound is a noninvasive (the skin is not pierced) procedure used to assess organs and structures within the female pelvis. A pelvic ultrasound allows quick visualization of the female pelvic organs and structures including the uterus, cervix, vagina, fallopian tubes, and ovaries. Doppler ultrasound may also show blood flow in certain pelvic organs. Treatment of Minor EmergenciesTreatment of minor health-related issues such as minor injuries or illnesses.
