This prestigious recognition is granted to hospitals that healthcare consumers have picked as having the most outstanding quality and image.Presbyterian Hospital received this honor following an annual survey, called the NRC Healthcare Market Guide, that included more than 200,000 households in 190 areas around the nation and the District of Columbia.
NCQA Physician Quality Awards
The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), together with the American Heart Association and the American Diabetes Association, recognize physicians who provide excellent care to patients with heart disease, stroke, and diabetes.
2007 Excellence in Healthcare Awards from Professional Research Consultants

2007 VHA Awards
Presbyterian Hospital, Presbyterian Hospital Huntersville, Presbyterian Hospital Matthews and Presbyterian Orthopaedic Hospital each won awards for superior scores on national quality standards.
2005 VHA Awards
Presbyterian Hospital received the 2005 VHA Best Practices Award for Clinical Quality Improvement. Both Presbyterian Hospital and Presbyterian Hospital Matthews received Leadership Awards for Excellence for being among the top hospitals nationally for their treatment of patients with heart attacks.
Society of Chest Pain Centers Reaccredidation
Presbyterian Hospital is the first Chest Pain Center in North Carolina to achieve Cycle II designation, showing that it meets the highest national standards for the care of heart attack and chest pain patients. The goal of the Society of Chest Pain Centers is to significantly reduce patient mortality rates by teaching the public to recognize and react to the early symptoms of a possible heart attack, reduce the time that it takes to receive treatment and increase the accuracy and effectiveness of treatment. Presbyterian Hospital's Chest Pain Center received its first accreditation in 2004.
JCAHO's Earnest A Codman Award
In 2004, Presbyterian Healthcare and Novant Health received the Codman Award for excellence in the use of outcomes measurement to achieve improvements in the quality and safety of healthcare. This prestigious national honor was awarded by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations for Presbyterian's efforts to reduce patient complications related to the use of a frequently prescribed medicine.
2006 Patient Satisfaction Awards from PRC
Presbyterian Healthcare received 15 patient satisfaction awards from Professional Research Consultants (PRC). Presbyterian Hospital Matthews received four 5-Star awards and Presbyterian Hospital received five 5-Star awards. Presbyterian Hemby Children's Hospital received a silver achievement award and Randolph Radiology received a 5-Star award.
Other National Honors
Presbyterian Healthcare and Novant Health have been ranked among the 2004 Top 100 Integrated Healthcare Networks, according to an analysis by SMG Marketing Group in Chicago. The SMG Top 100 is a listing of the nation's leading integrated healthcare networks. The ranking is based on critical success factors determined by the SMG Marketing Group.
In 2004, Presbyterian Healthcare and Novant Health were named as one of the nation's 25 Most Improved hospital systems on the annual Most Wired list published by Hospitals & Health Networks magazine. The award recognizes hospitals and health systems who are leading the way in effectively using Internet technologies for quality, safety, business and workforce initiatives.
