CHARLOTTE N.C. -- Presbyterian Hospital Matthews hosted a grand opening naming ceremony for its newly completed cafe, December 4, 2007. The ribbon-cutting included hospital staff, in addition to the single employee who submitted the cafe's new name. The newly-renovated space features state-of-the-art equipment including a wood-stone oven for innovative menu options and a relaxing atmosphere for hospital guests and employees.
"We are really excited to be able to provide such a remarkable atmosphere to our patients, guests and staff," said Kim Taylor, director of support and professional services at Presbyterian Hospital Matthews. The new cafe features an outdoor courtyard designed to create a calming environment with fountains, extensive landscaping and lighting.
Presbyterian Hospital Matthews and partner, Morrison Healthcare Food Service, have created a truly unique setting for healthcare food service. The cafe features state-of-the-art equipment; in-house-made culinary delights including deli sandwiches with wood-stone oven baked breads; live cooking events with fresh sauteed items; weekly chef's table specials; a daily hot bar with entrees and veggies and the Best Little Grill in Matthews creating made-to-order grilled specialties.
Through an employee taste-test, the hospital chose to serve Seattles Best, a division of Starbucks Coffee, in the specialty coffee bar. Coffee drinks such as espresso beverages, including cappuccinos, lattes, and mochas will now be available to Presbyterian Hospital Matthews guests.
"With the new additions, we have the opportunity to serve an array of menu choices to people who need it most."
