Consumers Pick Presbyterian Hospital for Best Quality and Image

Charlotte, N.C. - Presbyterian Hospital has received yet another national award. This time, the organization was honored with a Consumer Choice Award from the National Research Corporation (NRC). This prestigious recognition is granted to hospitals that healthcare consumers have picked as having the most outstanding quality and image.
Presbyterian Hospital received this honor following an annual survey, called the NRC Healthcare Market Guide, that included more than 200,000 households in 190 areas around the nation and the District of Columbia.
"Consumers play an increasing role in selecting their healthcare facilities and services," said NRC Chief Executive Officer Michael Hayes. "As more healthcare quality information becomes public, we expect this trend to increase. Organizations are selected for the award by the community residents they serve." The NRC has more than two decades of experience in healthcare performance measurement and improvement.
This award is the latest in a vast array of national awards received by Presbyterian Hospital and its parent company, Novant Health, in 2007:
  • VHA Inc., a national healthcare alliance has recently recognized Presbyterian Healthcare for its commitment to clinical excellence. Presbyterian Hospital, Presbyterian Hospital Huntersville, Presbyterian Hospital Matthews and Presbyterian Orthopaedic Hospital each won awards for superior scores on national quality standards.
  • Presbyterian Hospital and its affiliated facilities earned 147 Professional Research Consultants awards for patient and physician satisfaction.
  • Presbyterian Hospital's parent company, Novant Health, ranks seventh among the Top 100 integrated healthcare networks in the United States, according to Verispan, a research firm that evaluates healthcare systems. Verispan evaluates health systems based on the level of integration in eight categories: integration; integrated technology; contractual capabilities; outpatient utilization; financial stability; services and access; hospital utilization; and physicians.
