Charlotte, NC - Presbyterian Hospital's Hospice and Palliative Care will be hosting "Now What Do I Do?," a practical class on managing daily life after the loss of a loved one, on Oct. 6, 2007 at Buddy Kemp Caring House from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. The class will teach participants how to manage a daily routine after the loss of a partner.
"You find yourself suddenly single and the everyday tasks that your partner was taking care of are now your responsibility to navigate," said Cindy Lyman, bereavement coordinator at Presbyterian Hospice and Palliative Care. "We try to be a beacon of light for these people, providing our participants resources, hands-on, practical lessons on how to get through an everyday routine that used to be shared with someone else." This is the third year that Presbyterian Hospice and Palliative Care has hosted the program.
Led by Lyman and additional bereavement facilitators, the "Now What Do I Do?" program helps participants face the challenges of suddenly living alone and making all decisions of a household. The program will include guidance and resources on such topics as how to complete house and yard work, financial/legal considerations and car maintenance. There will also be an in-class cooking demonstration with cost-effective techniques to cook for one.
