Matthews, N.C - Presbyterian Hospital Matthews has received the Professional Research Consultants Special Recognition Award for its outstanding physician satisfaction scores. PHM scored in the 90th percentile in all areas measured including questions regarding physicians' perceptions of the hospital's "Overall Quality of Care" and "As a Place to Practice Medicine." There was only one other hospital in the country to receive the prestigious award.

"Our number one priority is creating a distinctively remarkable experience for every patient, in every dimension, every time and our physicians and staff work extremely hard to make that happen," said Mark Billings, Vice President of Growth and Development for Presbyterian Healthcare and Administrator for Presbyterian Hospital Matthews. This award distinguishes Presbyterian Hospital Matthews for recognizing the importance of physician satisfaction and how it affects patient care.

Every year, Presbyterian Hospital Matthews participates in the annual Professional Research Consultants' comprehensive survey. PRC is a marketing research and consulting organization dedicated to improving the healthcare industry. This year, approximately 600 hospitals across the country (including every hospital in Mecklenburg County) participated in the 2006 National Excellence in Healthcare Awards.

This was the first year that PRC has seen results such as these from a medical staff survey. PRC shared that the award recipients have a keen understanding of their customers' needs, have mastered the art of meeting those needs, and have taken the extra steps needed to gain their loyalty. PRC presented Presbyterian Hospital Matthews with an additional 35 Excellence in Healthcare awards.
