CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Mid Carolina Cardiology (MCC), one of the largest, most comprehensive cardiology groups in the Carolinas, will join Presbyterian Healthcare effective August 1.
Founded in 1988, MCC has 30 physicians and five regional offices in addition to a research division. "Mid Carolina Cardiology and Presbyterian have partnered together to provide excellent cardiovascular care for 20 years," said Stephen McAdams, M.D., F.C.C.P., chief executive officer of MCC. "Our new formalized alliance will be a seamless transition for our patients that will offer enhanced care through a total team approach and greater strides in cardiovascular research."
Presbyterian's Cardiovascular Institute is nationally recognized for excellence in heart and vascular care and offers a full range of preventive, diagnostic, treatment, rehabilitation and support services. It has accredited Chest Pain Centers in Charlotte and Matthews and is also a Primary Stroke Center. Presbyterian is focused on quality outcomes and is ranked in the top percentile of hospitals nationally, much of which can be attributed to the outstanding cardiologists on staff.
"Quality care starts with quality physicians," said Patrick Easterling, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Novant Medical Group. "This affiliation will build on our vision of working together to provide the best possible cardiovascular care to our patients. We could not be more proud that Mid Carolina Cardiology has chosen to partner with Presbyterian Healthcare."
Presbyterian Healthcare is affiliated with Novant Health, a nonprofit healthcare system serving 3.5 million people in 33 counties reaching from southern Virginia to northern South Carolina and along the southeastern coast of North Carolina. Presbyterian is made up of physician clinics and five hospitals: Presbyterian Hospital, Presbyterian Hospital Matthews, Presbyterian Hospital Huntersville, Presbyterian Orthopaedic Hospital and Presbyterian Hemby Children's Hospital. The hospital system is recognized as a leader in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular, cancer, orthopaedic and women's health conditions. Novant Health and Presbyterian were named winners of the 2004 Codman Award, presented by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, for excellence in improving the quality and safety of healthcare.
