Presbyterian ICN hosts 25th annual reunion celebration
CHARLOTTE, N.C. When a baby must spend time in intensive care, their family and their doctors undoubtedly develop a special connection. To honor this bond, Presbyterian Hospital Intensive Care Nursery hosted an annual reunion on April 28 to bring former patients, their families, and their doctors back together.
For this year's festivities, World Financial Group brought a real race car, the #99 car driven by Carl Edwards, to represent the reunion's racing theme. In addition to having their picture taken with the car, guests played games, enjoy arts and crafts, and have their face painted.
"We really look forward to this reunion every year," said Lynn Helderman, assistant nurse manager at Presbyterian's Hemby ICN. "These patients and their families went through a very difficult time with us here at Presbyterian. We love having this opportunity to catch up with these children and see how their lives have improved after their time in intensive care."
The celebration at Independence Park also featured giveaways, balloon animals, music, an inflatable slide, and a moon bounce. Your Event Source catered the event, providing a variety of food including hot dogs, veggie burgers, chicken nuggets, snow cones, and cotton candy. Other organizations that generously contributed to the event include March of Dimes, Threads of Love, Charlotte Mothers of Multiples, and Chick-fil-A.
Located within the Presbyterian Women's Center, the Hemby Intensive Care Nursery is a level IV nursery - the highest designation for treating premature and critically ill newborns. For more information about the Hemby Intensive Care Nursery, please visit www.presbyterian.org/women.
