CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Presbyterian Hospital is once again offering the Union County community new healthcare options. On March 2, officials broke ground on Presbyterian Medical Plaza Waxhaw, located at 3614 Providence Rd.
Among the facility's occupants, the 52,000 square-foot structure will house Presbyterian Medical Group's Waxhaw Family Physicians and an Urgent Care Center.
In December 2006, the organization broke ground on Presbyterian Medical Plaza Monroe, located at 1803 Windmere Dr., in Union County. Nestled on 37 acres, the two-story 100,000 square-foot-medical complex will house:
- Rocky River Family Physicians - including three physicians and support staff
- Center for Child and Adolescent Medicine - including five physicians, one physicians assistant, one nurse practitioner and support staff
- Outpatient surgery center - slated to open in 2008, the state of North Carolina approved Presbyterian's Certificate of Need application to construct this facility
- Imaging capabilities - including advanced radiology technology for early detection of heart disease and other conditions
- Urgent Care - when an unexpected illness or mild medical injury occurs, clinicians in this facility will provide immediate assistance and diagnosis - on a walk-in basis without an appointment
- Retail space - new tenants to be announced in coming months
- Medical office space
Presbyterian Healthcare has been delivering medical services to Union County residents for decades. "We have five physician practices and a heart specialist practice in Union," said Presbyterian Hospital president and chief executive officer Carl Armato. "Broaden our reach in this county mirrors our mission statement of improving the health of communities one person at a time."
