December 22, 2006-- Today, North Carolina state officials approved Presbyterian Healthcare's certificate of need proposal to build a new hospital in the Mint Hill area.

November 8, 2006 -- Presbyterian Cancer Center, nationally renowned for quality cancer care, received $125,000 from the Avon Foundation for expanded community outreach and patient navigation services for underserved populations in Mecklenburg and surrounding counties.

November 7, 2006 -- Free pie, coffee and conversation will be on tap during an event hosted at Penny's Place Restaurant in Mint Hill on Nov. 8 from 2-4 p.m. at 7917 Fairview Rd. in Mint Hill. Hosted by Presbyterian Hospital, the event will give the public an opportunity to ask questions about the hospital that Presbyterian Healthcare proposed to build in Mint Hill.

September 15, 2006 -- Presbyterian Hospice and Palliative Care will be hosting its annual children's grief camp, "Sunny Days" on September 23, 2006 at Christ Lutheran Church from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Open to children in kindergarten through fifth grade, camp counselors will teach participants how to cope with the loss of a loved one.
September 12, 2006 -- In recognition of Microsoft's continuous support of the Presbyterian Hemby Children's Hospital, Presbyterian is naming its newly built playground the Microsoft Park. Funding for the playground was secured solely through proceeds from the Hemby Cup, an annual Microsoft-sponsored charity hockey game, which has raised more than $300,000 over the past five years.
August 12, 2006 -- Presbyterian Hospital has transitioned its one-year Surgical Technology Program to Central Piedmont Community College. The new program has been converted from a one-year certificate course to a two-year program that allows students to earn an associates degree.
August 2, 2006 -- Presbyterian Hospital Matthews nurse Amy Vance was recently named to North Carolinas prestigious Great 100 in nursing due to her excellence in nursing and commitment to the profession.
July 27, 2007 -- Sandra Peynado spends her days visiting churches, recruiting students and conducting health promoter training across Greater Mecklenburg County.
July 21, 2006 -- Novant Health and Presbyterian are raising the bar for healthcare quality with the help of two clean hand monitors and a comprehensive hand hygiene campaign. From observing hand hygiene practices to educating staff on the correct way to wash their hands, the monitors are helping to improve patient care at Novant hospitals and other facilities.
July 17, 2006 -- Presbyterian Healthcare submitted a certificate of need application to build a 50-bed acute care hospital in the Mint Hill area.
June 29, 2006 -- The Presbyterian Breast Center was filled with nervous chatter as usual last Wednesday afternoon. This time, however, no deductibles were paid nor insurance cards flashed because all screening mammograms were free of charge. Thanks to grants received from both the Avon and Komen Foundations, a total of 62 women (3/4 of which were Latina) received a free mammogram and a lesson in breast health.
June 26, 2006 -- Elves and firefighters were guests at Friday's "Christmas in June;" a party for Hemby patients sponsored by the Firefighters' Burned Children Fund. Blaze, the Charlotte Fire Department's friendly firefighting Dalmatian mascot, also made an appearance.
June 13, 2006 -- "Blossoming Out of Grief," Presbyterian Hospice & Palliative Care's 5th annual Celebration of Life, is a program that allows friends and family members to gather in a large group setting to not only commemorate life, but to provide a way for people to grapple with the puzzling process of death and the grieving that accompanies such life changes.
June 6, 2006 -- The President's Award, for commitment to service excellence for patients, physicians and employees, is the highest recognition presented by Professional Research Consultants (PRC), a nationally known healthcare research company. Each year PRC presents the President's Award to only one healthcare organization in the nation.
June 5, 2006 -- Celebrating Life and Love. This is the theme of Pam McAnultys June wedding. As a three-time cancer survivor, this weekend marked not only the beginning of her life in marriage, but also her seventh annual observation of National Cancer Survivors Day.
June 5, 2006 -- More than 150 eager children and parents gathered for the 6th annual Presbyterian Blume Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Clinic picnic early Saturday afternoon. Instead of spreading a red and white gingham blanket in celebration of spring, families came together to celebrate life.
May, 26, 2006 -- Mice, princesses and movie stars were among the guests of honor at a Disney party thrown for patients and family members at Presbyterian Hemby Children's Hospital Wednesday afternoon. Eager children filled the festively decorated Hemby Children's Hospital indoor playground for storytelling with Radio Disney, and crafts and cupcakes with Disney characters Mickey, Minnie and Cinderella.
May 23, 2006 -- Blue Cross/Blue Shield of North Carolina, the state's largest insurer, awards this designation based on consistent favorable outcomes in open heart surgery cases.
