CHARLOTTE, N.C.-- Today, North Carolina state officials approved Presbyterian Healthcare's certificate of need proposal to build a new hospital in the Mint Hill area.
"We are delighted to announce that citizens in the Mint Hill area will get the hospital they deserve to meet the community's growing healthcare needs," said Mark Billings, Presbyterian Healthcare's vice president of growth and development. "We plan to break ground within the coming months and look forward to constructing a hospital that will deliver high quality care. Our organization appreciates the thousands of people who signed letters of support on behalf of our proposal. With that community support, Presbyterian Hospital Mint Hill is becoming a reality."
In a certificate of need application filed with the state of North Carolina's Department of Facility Services in July, Presbyterian Healthcare requested to build a 50-bed, $90 million dollar hospital. The new facility is scheduled to open in late 2009.
Services at Presbyterian Hospital Mint Hill will include:
  • Emergency department with 16 treatment rooms
  • 38 acute care medical surgical beds
  • 10 observation beds
  • Four-bed intensive care unit
  • Four surgical operating rooms with nine first-stage recovery bays and 22 admission, preparation and second stage recovery rooms
  • Imaging services
  • Full-service laboratory and pharmacy
