CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Free pie, coffee and conversation will be on tap during an event hosted at Penny's Place Restaurant in Mint Hill on Nov. 8 from 2-4 p.m. at 7917 Fairview Rd. in Mint Hill. Hosted by Presbyterian Hospital, the event will give the public an opportunity to ask questions about the hospital that Presbyterian Healthcare proposed to build in Mint Hill.
In a certificate of need application filed with the state of North Carolina's Department of Environmental Control, Presbyterian Healthcare has proposed to build a 50-bed, $90 million dollar hospital in the Mint Hill area. The application was filed on July 17, 2006.
"Right now, the Mint Hill community doesnt have a hospital," said Mark Billings, vice president of Presbyterian Healthcare's growth and development. "If a person in the Mint Hill area needs immediate medical attention, he or she should be able to access a hospital that's minutes away from his or her front doorstep, right in the comfort of their own community."
Presbyterian Healthcare has been providing care to residents in that area since the early 1990s through several of Presbyterian's physician practices. "More than 100 years ago, our organization began providing healthcare in North Carolina when we first opened our doors in Charlotte," noted Billings.
