Presbyterian Healthcare's Chief Operating Officer, Lynn I. Boggs, recently advanced to Fellow status in the American College of Healthcare Executives, an international professional society of 30,000 healthcare executives.
ACHE recognized Boggs during the recent Convocation Ceremony, held during the organizations annual Congress on Healthcare Leadership. Fellow status is the highest level of professional achievement in ACHE. Only 3,300 healthcare executives hold this distinction.
Boggs was one of North Carolina's first hospital CEOs. After caring for patients as a bedside nurse for years, she was named CEO of Thomasville Medical Center, also a Novant Health-owned facility, in 1997. She later served as senior vice president of Human Resources, then interim vice president and chief nursing officer for Presbyterian Healthcare.
Boggs now leads one of the state's largest healthcare systems as executive vice president and chief operating officer. She received a bachelor of science in nursing from the University of South Carolina, a master of science in nursing administration from the Medical University of South Carolina and a master of business administration from Wake Forest University.
To obtain Fellow status, candidates must demonstrate their education, experience and leadership in healthcare for several years. They must also complete case studies or a thesis on a healthcare management topic or participate in a year-long membership project.
