CHARLOTTE, N.C. - For the past nine years, Lakeside Family Physicians has operated the Huntersville Free Clinic on Wednesday evenings from 6 - 9 p.m., offering medical care free of charge to underserved community citizens. Lakeside medical director Dr. David M. Cook, M.D. and his wife, April, are the clinic's facilitators, and the other Lakeside physicians volunteer their time and expertise on a regular basis.

WSOC-TV sponsors the annual "Nine Who Care" award and selected Lakeside Family Physicians from a pool of Mecklenburg County applicants. Lakeside and other winners from surrounding counties received their awards during a luncheon held at the Speedway Club on September 13. Ray Evernham, an area resident and NASCAR team owner, was the featured speaker at the event.

Lakeside Family Physicians is affiliated with Presbyterian Medical Group and is comprised of six office locations in the Lake Norman area. Lakeside has 26 physicians specializing in family medicine and also offers Urgent Care, Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy services.
