Presbyterian Healthcare Board of Trustees Names New Chairman, Adds Members

CHARLOTTE, N.C. The Presbyterian Healthcare Board of Trustees recently appointed Stanford Brookshire, Jr., as the new chairman of the board. Brookshire serves as CEO and President of Acentron Technologies Inc. based in Charlotte.
Presbyterian's board also appointed three new members: Yele Aluko, M.D., of Mid Carolina Cardiology, Anthony Fox, partner of Parker, Poe, Adams and Bernstein L.L.P. and Hilda Gurdian, publisher and CEO of La Noticia.
Brookshire, who has served on the board for Presbyterian Hospital since 1999, is former president of both Stanford R. Brookshire Company and Applied Management Systems, Inc. He is chairman of Endowment Fundraising Committee at Union-PSCE Seminary at Queens University, a member of the Board of Governors for Charlotte Country Club, and a member of the Board of Directors for Bojangles.Brookshire is a past recipient of the Charlotte Chambers Summit Award for Lifetime Achievement (2003) and Entrepreneur of the Year (1998). Acentron Technologies Inc. was named the Fastest Growing Technology Company by the Charlotte Chamber in 1998.
Dr. Aluko is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and of the Society of Cardiac Angiography and Interventions. He has practiced cardiovascular medicine in Charlotte since 1989, and is partner and past president and chairman of the Board of Directors of Mid Carolina Cardiology. Dr. Aluko also serves on the boards of the Mecklenburg County Medical Society, Discovery Place, Carolinas Association for Community Health Equity (CACHE), Echo Foundation and the Association of Black Cardiologists, and is president-elect of the Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas.
Fox practices municipal and regulatory law as well as public finance and litigation. He is a member of the North Carolina Association of Municipal Attorneys and serves on its Board of Directors. Fox is active with the North Carolina State Bar, is the former secretary of the Mecklenburg County Bar, and is now a director of the Mecklenburg County Bar Foundation. He served as vice chair of the Charlotte City Councils Citizens Review Board and is a past chairman of the Board of Directors of United Way, a director of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, Charlotte Center City Partners and the City of Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority.
Gurdian, a past recipient of The Business Journals Women in Business Achievement Award and a Distinguished Service Award sponsored by the Minority Business Exchange, sits the board of advisors for the Charlotte Chamber, United Way of Central Carolinas, Boy Scouts of America, Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) Presidents Council, the CPCC Foundation, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Foundation and the Diocese of Charlotte Foundation. She is also a member of the Latin American Chamber of Commerce.
