CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Presbyterian Healthcare announced today that the state has granted conditional approval to build a multi-specialty ambulatory surgery center in Union County. A certificate of need was filed with the North Carolina Division of Facilities Services in July 2005 after the state determined that Union County could support one new operating room.
Presbyterian's proposed outpatient surgery center is part of a larger medical complex in development that will include physician offices, an urgent care, imaging center and potentially other medical services. The $4.7 million facility will be located off of US Highway 74 at the intersection of Windmere Drive. It is anticipated that the surgery center will be ready to serve patients by summer 2007.
"This medical complex is part of Presbyterian's commitment to provide the residents of Union County a choice in medical care," said Mark Billings, Administrator of Presbyterian Hospital Matthews. "Patients will soon have Presbyterian outpatient surgical services located closer to their homes. We have received strong support from the community as well as physicians who will now have a choice in where to perform their outpatient surgical procedures."
