Presbyterian Invites Community to an Evening of Fun, Food and Good Health
October 20, 2005
Contact: Katie Vick, Presbyterian Healthcare, 704-384-9869
Presbyterian Hospital welcomes Zonya Foco, America's Nutrition Leader and registered dietitian, for an evening of fun, food and good health. Zonya, a certified health and fitness instructor, best-selling author, television host and certified speaking professional, will give a free presentation at Presbyterian Hospital for the community on Nov. 2.
Zonya's presentation, "Tackling Childhood Obesity and Diabetes: The Top Four Nutrition Problems Facing Our Kids Today," goes beyond the food guide pyramid to explain the top four nutritional problems at the crux of childhood obesity and diabetes. From the flood of sugars, fats, food colorings/additives and preservatives to "Super Size" and "Clean Plate Club" mentality, find out how these problems, multiplied by not enough exercise, promote childhood obesity, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, allergies and behavior problems like ADD/ADHD. Parents will discover how they, armed with practical knowledge and tips, can be a part of the solution, making all the difference in today's children.
The presentation, sponsored by Presbyterian Hemby Children's Hospital, will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be held in the hospital auditorium. All attendees will receive a free boxed dinner featuring recipes from Zonya's cookbook, Lickety-Split Meals for Health Conscious People on the Go.
Seating for the event is limited, and advance registration is required. To register, call 704-384-CARE, or visit www.presbyterian.org for more information.
