Presbyterian Hospital Matthews held a grand opening event to celebrate the completion of Phase 1 of their emergency department expansion on Tuesday, August 9. The expansion will allow the hospital to better serve patients and the community by increasing the number of treatment rooms, while reducing the amount of time a patient has to wait.
Over the next eight months construction will continue with two more phases. During these phases the hospital will use the new space and portions of the old emergency department space to treat patients. The last phase is scheduled for completion in May 2006. Once completed the emergency department at Presbyterian Hospital Matthews will have increased their number of treatment rooms from 17 to 33 and will be more than twenty-two thousand square feet.
Presbyterian Hospital Matthews, located at 1500 Matthews Township Parkway, Matthews, NC, offers a full range of medical services including inpatient and outpatient surgery, radiology, laboratory, emergency services and cardiac catherization at its 102-private-room facility.
